Garfield Flushable Grand Cat Litter Review
Advertised Product Description
This is our Garfield Flushable Grand Cat Litter review. Garfield Flushable Grand Cat Litter takes the proven formula of their tiny grains and increases the size. You still get the same eco-friendly formula but in larger granules that will help to reduce tracking. As the name suggests, it is also capable of being flushed down any standard toilet. It is available in 5-pound bags.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is good for cats and owners with sensitive smells to perfumes or chemicals. It is also good for those who like to dispose of their cat litter by flushing as opposed to throwing away. Despite being slightly larger granules, they are still rather small and smooth and are good for cats with sensitive paws or long-haired cats that have issues with sharp granules getting caught in their coat.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
The material really stands out here compared to what else is out there. The plant-based material almost resembles sand and it comes with essentially no scent. Another obvious point of interest is that the litter is advertised as being toilet-friendly which we have seen be a sensitive subject among many other brands.
Clumping Ability –
Similar to the Tiny Grains product, the Garfield Flushable Grand Cat Litter has great clumping, particularly when it comes to feces. The clumps stay rock hard for long periods of time, making them easy to dispose of. Urine is always handled fine although you won’t get quite the level of clumping compared to feces. We do feel that the Tiny Grains version clumps a hair better but both do a good enough job to meet most people’s needs.
The scentless sand-like material is great for those with sensitive nostrils and it is refreshing to see a cat litter brand not overload their product with powerful perfumes. However, this does come at the cost of allowing some cat waste to seep through. We got some rather strong whiffs of feces through the clumps. Really if you would rather deal with chemical odors or subtle cat waste odors comes up to personal preference as well as how busy your litter box is.
By increasing the granules some, the tracking issue that is notorious with the Tiny Grains product is somewhat alleviated. However, compared to most other litters out there, the granules are still rather small and light so there will still likely be some tracking. This is particularly noticeable in high traffic litter boxes. The granules are smooth enough to not stick to cat fur, however. As mentioned above, the clumps stay very hard and are very easily disposed of without making a mess. You also don’t have to worry about any sort of dust.
This cat litter is priced in the mid to high price bracket, making it somewhat expensive compared to standard clay litters. You do get a unique product that excels in certain areas. Being a large granule than its sister litter, a clump does seem to use more product so you may find yourself having to replace a litter box more often here.
Overall Rating –
Garfield Flushable Grand Cat Litter utilizes a unique plant-based sand material and does so in a slightly larger package. By doing so, it cuts down on tracking but also somewhat affects clumping ability. However, the clumps are still plenty hard which makes cleanup a breeze. There is no chemical smell to speak of but this does make feces odors come out in busier litter boxes. And, of course, the ability to be flushed is a huge bonus in our book. For those willing to open their wallet a bit more you will get a product that performs above average while being much more eco-friendly than a lot of other products out there.
