Advertised Product Description
This is our Garfield Flushable Tiny Grains Cat Litter review. Garfield Flushable Tiny Grains Cat Litter combines the benefit of eco-friendly litter material with a great clumping ability. The low scent material is great for cats with sensitive allergies. Another added benefit is the ability to be able to be flushed down a standard toilet. It is available in 5-pound bags.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is good for cats or owners who struggle being exposed to cat litters with fumes or artificial scents. It is also great for those who are after something less harmful to the environment as this is eco-friendly. Finally, for those who don’t want to deal with disposing of cat litter the conventional way, this product is capable of being flushed down a toilet.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
The material itself is very unique. It resembles more of a coarse sand than anything else and anybody used to traditional types of cat litter will be taken back initially when they put their hands on this. Beyond that, its unique combination of being environmentally friendly while also supposedly being good at clumping makes it stand out since we have discovered historically that it is quite challenging to meet both of those demands at the same time.
Clumping Ability –
True to their statement, this stuff clumps extremely well. It can handle feces and urine quite well but really shines in its ability to form small, hard clumps for feces. It also doesn’t use nearly as much litter to do so as we have seen with most other clumping litters. We assume the extra-fine granules play a huge role in doing this as you get more surface area to work with overall. Another important note is that cat waste tends to stay at the surface and not work its way down before clumping. This greatly helps with clump identification and also litter box maintenance.
Scent –
There is essentially no scent to Garfield cat litters which we really like. The fact that it doesn’t feel it needs powerful and often overwhelming perfumes to deal with odor is a nice touch. That being said, it doesn’t do as good of a job in masking cat feces as we have seen in other products. It isn’t terrible at it per se but the lack of perfume and also the smaller clumps that form are likely to blame for that.
Messiness –
Due to the small nature of the granules, this product does track quite a bit. Someone with multiple cats and a busy litter box will likely have to deal with finding a lot of spare litter granules around and outside of the box. We have seen this time and time again that this is simply the cost of admission for using a cat litter with such small granules.
However, we are surprised to say that the granules really don’t stick to car fur as we assumed it would. This is likely because there aren’t a lot of jagged edges on the granules which are prone to sticking to fur easier. However, it can become statically charged quite easy which can add to how easily it sticks to your cat and really anything else. People that live in dry climates might deal with this more. In regards to clean up, the clumps stay rock hard and are a breeze to identify remove. And that fact it is flushable is a nice plus that can really reduce litter box maintenance.
Value –
Buy on Amazon Price not available and save
This certainly isn’t the cheapest product on the market and seems to be priced to compete with the higher end products out there. We actually don’t see a problem with this as most of the non-clay litters out there tend to fetch a higher premium. Due to the small clumps, a package of this stuff lasts a lot longer so your money does go farther.
Overall Rating –
Garfield Flushable Tiny Grains Cat Litter takes a unique approach in its tiny plant-based sand granules. This unique formula results in fantastic clumps that stay hard for long periods of time without using a ton of litter. We also like the ability to flush and that all of this comes in a package that is less harmful to the environment.
However, odor control may struggle a bit with feces and there is the added issue of higher levels of tracking because of that small stature of the litter. But overall, the unique combination of great features trumps some minor concerns and makes these a recommended product from us, even with a slightly higher price tag.
