Advertised Product Description
This is our Jonny Cat Fragrance-Free Cat Litter Review. Jonny Cat Fragrance-Free cat litter is promoted as having zero fragrances yet still being able to have the necessary odor-fighting you would expect. It features a natural botanical ingredient derived from fruit and vegetable extracts which help to deliver powerful odor control. This also means it is allergen-free which makes it useful for sensitive cats or owners that may have allergies. This product comes in a 10 and 20-pound bag.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This product is intended for owners who typically have just single cats or multiple litter boxes to split among their cats, and value the benefits of clay litter but don’t want to bother with removing clumps. Also, this product is good for owners or cats who are sensitive to harsh perfume smells common in cat litters and, instead, this utilizes fruit and vegetable extracts, which makes it much more environmentally friendly as well. Finally, this product is designed for those willing to pay a premium for a well-performing cat litter.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This cat litter is unique because it is a clay-based litter that doesn’t utilize clumping or strong fragrances. Instead, it tries to help combat smells through the natural absorbency of clay combined with vegetable and fruit extracts, which is a unique approach. This makes it one of the few clay litters that can be recommended for those owners or cats who suffer from constant allergies.
Clumping Ability – N/A
This litter is primarily intended to be replaced each week. As such, the clumping ability is very limited and not intended. Those that are wanting clumping will have to look for a different litter.
Scent –
As promised, there is hardly any little smell associated with this litter. Even the most sensitive cat should have no problem using it. That being said, it still does a decent job of blocking cat odor, both from feces as well as urine. We were surprised and impressed to see how well the vegetable and fruit extracts performed in the absence of artificial perfume. Towards the end of the 7-day window some cat smells can start to creep out, however, so make sure to replace it weekly, and potentially more often if it is a busy litter box with multiple cats.
Messiness –
Relatively minimal dust and dense somewhat heavy granules mean that tracking isn’t nearly as bad with this litter as others. Also, cleanup is quite easy. There is not much caking with this litter so there isn’t much concern with it sticking to the walls or cat paws. Also, since you aren’t scooping out clumps of litter you simply dump the contents out and refill once a week. That makes this a very low-effort litter and great for people who are always on the go and don’t have a lot of time to maintain a litter box during the week.
Value –
Online this litter is typically a premium-priced option. This is quite unfortunate as this price point may be more than many people are willing to pay for cat litter.
Overall Rating –
The Jonny Cat Fragrance-Free Cat Litter Review earns 3 out of 5 cats. A well-performing litter that is true to its promise of being fragrance-free while still handling cat odors without issue. The lack of dust and minimal tracking is nice, too. However, why is it so expensive? It checks all the boxes for a premium litter but the lack of clumping makes us question why the price is so high. If you can find it for a more reasonable price then we recommend trying it out.
