Advertised Product Description
This is our Precious Cat Touch of Outdoors Cat Litter Review. Precious Cat Touch of Outdoors cat litter is targeted at those cats that crave being outside and get antsy through their display of pacing, scratching furniture, excessive grooming, etc. This litter contains natural chemical free prairie grasses with promises of no airborne dust, hard clumping, multi-cat friendly, and contains natural chlorophyll for non-stop odor control. This product is available in 20-pound boxes and 40-pound bags.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is intended for those cats and owners who are tired of clay, wood, and even silica gel products or simply aren’t happy with their performance. Also, it is great for cats that naturally enjoy being in the outdoors over being inside. That being said, still retaining clumping ability is an important requirement that the owner doesn’t want to give up.
Most of the time this will be best for single cats or multiple cats that have more than one litter box to share. Finally, at this price point, the owner should be a little flexible with prices but still be interested in trying to save money if possible.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This cat litter is unique because it is one of the few products on the market that are made of grass. Even more interesting is that Precious Cat believes that they have retained the ability to clump and successfully fight odor, something which a lot of people wouldn’t picture simple grass being able to accomplish.
Clumping Ability –
The clumping is decent, but nothing amazing. We think the fact that it is not strictly a clay compound negates some of the clumping ability. While the grass gives a unique texture that your cat might enjoy, it doesn’t equate to better clumping. The clumps are somewhat hard but can fall apart after too many days without being taken out, particularly if they are accidentally moved around in the litter box. Also, absorption is good but not great so it is important to keep a close eye on the litter and change it when it appears to become saturated or you’ll be stick with a sticky, grassy mess.
Scent –
There is a nice, natural smell that permeates from this litter. It is not overbearing but rather subtle and most cats and owners don’t seem to mind it. Odor control is not bad despite the somewhat lackluster clumping. However, urine and ammonia smells can get out of hand rather quickly if not taken care of since this isn’t nearly as absorbent as some of the other litter compounds on the market.
Messiness –
There is relatively little dust associated with this item. However, the grassy mixture that is present is tracked rather easily and can also stick to the cat’s hair. The clumps should stay hard enough for easy removal if you get to them within a couple of days but after this period, you might have to be a lot more careful or else deal with a headache associated with clumps falling apart. If moisture can sink to the bottom of the box you are left with a grassy, pasty mess that can be very annoying to clean.
Value –
Prices for this litter typically run in the mid-priced area. This is not that bad considering this is not your usual clay-based litter concoction. But there are more affordable clay litters out there that will stick to a more traditional approach.
Overall Rating –
The Precious Cat Touch of Outdoors Cat Litter Review earns 2 out of 5 cats. A rather messy and high maintenance option that has difficulty with both clumps staying hard as well as fighting cat smells. We appreciate the attempt to go with something more natural such as prairie grasses but unfortunately, they just don’t hold up to the rigors of a litter box. However, if your cat is keen on being outdoors you could still try this and see if it works for you and your pet.
