All Scoop Away Cat Litter Reviews
Updated by Brandon F. on June 3, 2020
This is a listing of all Scoop Away cat litters that have been reviewed and we also list what we think are the best Scoop Away cat litters with our internal ranking system. Scoop Away has been making cat litter since the early 90s, so they have quite a bit of experience with it. That being said, they still are relatively small in their offerings with only a handful of choices.
Even within these choices, they keep things pretty standard with a majority of their offerings being strictly clay-based and only one shying away from this with the introduction of crystals. However, don’t let their conventional approach fool you: most of their products have excellent clumping abilities among other positives. Also, several align perfectly with those who are very budget-conscious so you know that if you try one of the available Scoop Away products you will get a good product with your wallet likely thanking you.

Foundation Based Around Good Clumping
If you browse Scoop Away’s products, you will quickly notice a common theme: all of their products are advertised as being great at clumping. The first words that appear on their site are “clumping cat litter”! Simply put, this company feels that by prioritizing excellent clumping that everything else will fall into place and it will result in a well-functioning product.
Clumps have a vital role in a cat litter in that not only do they assist in making cleanup a breeze when they clump hard and quickly, but this also helps in maximizing odor control and improving overall performance whether you are using in a single-cat or multi-cat litter box.
Good Clumping Begins with Clay
All of Scoop Away’s litters are comprised at least partially of clay. The only significant variation that they have from conventional clay is the inclusion of crystals into their Multi-Cat Plus Crystals litter. The fact that they keep things very simple and for the most part stick with just clay reaffirms that they are focusing on clumping ability. This is because clay is typically one of the best performers when it comes to clumping.
And they aren’t just using any standard clay, either. According to their website, the clay that they use utilizes patented technology which a. Absorbs urine and waste smells on contact b. Allows for easy removal of fluids and c. leaves virtually no litter behind when scooping. These are impressive feats so it is no wonder why they have decided to stick with just clay.
Targeted Towards the Toughest Litter Boxes
As you might expect, going with a robust clay formula and focusing on clumping means that Scoop Away is confident in their product being able to handle very challenging litter box conditions. These conditions typically can exist in busier litter boxes that might be used by three or more cats and/or litter boxes located in areas with poor ventilation or limited space.
Tight corridor areas or locations that can’t displace air very well can be breeding grounds for odors to linger and can make it extra difficult for litter to properly do its job.
With products such as Extra Strength and two variations of Multi-Cat litters, it is apparent that Scoop Away doesn’t shy away from challenging conditions. Instead, they thrive in them.
Nice Range in Sizes
Another nice benefit of going with Scoop Away is the diverse range of package sizes you have to choose from. They vary from the very mobile and easy to carry 14-pound bags up to the large 42-pound variety.
With this type of range, you can surely find a product that can meet your size needs, whether you are after a small, easy to carry package for your single cat or if you want to purchase in bulk to appease your multiple cats.
Several Budget-Minded Offerings
Most of this company’s litters come in being very reasonably priced, with several falling into the most affordable price tier in terms of price per pound. This is great for those that are on a tight budget and can’t afford to spend more than necessary for a litter.
Also, you can take advantage of some of these good prices while still getting products that are designed for challenging litter boxes. Oftentimes when someone has to go with a budget litter they give up important performance attributes in the process. This company is confident that they can put a good litter out while staying affordable to most people.

Range of Sizes Available: 14 to 42 pounds
Types of Material Used: Clay and crystal
Price Range: Budget to Premium
Scoop Away Super Clump Scented
This litter shines in all areas and only has minor issues that can mostly be overlooked. The litter scent is surprisingly refreshing and the clumping ability it more than acceptable. The price is also in an area that is agreeable with most people’s wallets. It is available in 20 and 25-pound boxes, is comprised of clay, and is available in the mid-price range.
Pros: Creates clumps easily, great at masking odors, little dust
Cons: Gets gooey around a lot of urine, minor sticking to surface
Scoop Away Extra Strength Scented
This litter is interesting in that it has some really good qualities and also has some noticeable problems. It creates very impressive clumps that stay quite hard, but the litter scent can be quite overwhelming. The dust aspect is also quite frustrating. While the clumping is some of the best you’ll find, the asking price is just a bit too high for the problems that it has. It is available in 25 and 38-pound boxes, is comprised of clay, and is available in the premium-price tier.
Pros: Incredible good hard clumping, feces and urine odors stay locked in for days
Cons: Very strong off-putting perfume smell, extremely dusty, quite expensive
Scoop Away Multi-Cat Plus Crystals
This is one of the few budget (or near budget) litters on the market that is able to incorporate crystals. With crystal litters typically being well into the premium price tier, this is a chance to try them out without such a blow on your wallet. It does an average to slightly above average job in clumping and odor blocking but can get a bit messy. It is worth a try if you are curious about crystal-based litters. It is available in 25-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and crystals, and is available in the budget to mid-priced categories.
Pros: Great price for a litter with crystals, great job of knocking out cat waste odors
Cons: Clumps could be harder, strong perfume scent, need to be timely in clump removal
Scoop Away Multi-Cat Scented
While the clumping ability is stellar, it is the only real strong point of this product. It does have some issues with odor control and especially with the dust. While the price isn’t crazy high it would be nice if it was a bit lower given the performance you are looking at. It is available in 14, 25 and 38-pound boxes, is comprised of clay, and is available in the mid-priced tier.
Pros: Clumps pretty well, clumps do good job of holding in odors
Cons: Extremely dusty, very strong artificial perfume smell
Scoop Away Super Clump Unscented
There are some noticeable problems with this product but the price is at a point where you can overlook some of them. If you are willing to spend a bit more you can get noticeable improvements across the board but for those on a tight budget it will work in a pinch. It is available in 14 and 25-pound boxes, is comprised of clay, and is available in the budget to mid-priced tiers.
Pros: Clumps harden relatively quickly, formula does good job of masking cat odors
Cons: Urine has tendency to get to bottom, very dusty
Scoop Away Complete Performance
For being “complete performance” this product is for from being complete in all regards. The clumps, albeit large, do alright but the smell is simply too much to bear. That, plus the dust and tracking issues make this one best left avoided, even with the somewhat affordable price. It is available in 42-pound bags, is comprised of clay, and is available in the mid-priced tier.
Pros: Clumps feces with ease, holds in feces odors for several days
Cons: Struggles with fluids, heavily perfumed in a bad way, very dusty
