This is our So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Scented Cat Litter Review. So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Scented scoopable cat litter works hard to fight strong cat odors while providing a refreshing scent. This is accomplished by the usage of extra-absorbent clumping litter that contains natural minerals for super odor control. Any moisture present is quickly absorbed which helps the efficiency of this litter and the clumps that do form stay tight and hard which allows for easy maintenance. This item is available in 16 and 30-pound tubs.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is designed for particularly tough litter boxes where there have been struggles in the past to keep odors in check. This could be both from single and multi-cat litterboxes. Furthermore, this product is for cats who prefer clay over other materials and for owners who enjoy the clumping capabilities of clay. Also, there is an artificial scent with this litter so it is meant for those who aren’t bothered by the fumes. Finally, to achieve this odor control effectiveness the owner is willing to spend a decent amount of money to get them.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This cat litter is unique in how it approaches locking away odor. It has a rather aggressive formula for sealing in moisture, which is a common precursor to odor. This is accomplished with a conventional clay recipe that doesn’t have to rely on exotic materials like many other products on the market.
Clumping Ability –
The clumps that form are “alright” when it comes to hardness. They should stay hard enough to be taken care of for a little while but if you leave them unattended even for a few days they oftentimes will break in half and potentially make a mess. Moisture absorption is about average as well and should be serviceable for a few weeks in an average traffic litter box. This is somewhat disappointing because we were led to believe that handling moisture was one of the strongest abilities of this product.
Scent –
The fragrance that is injected into this litter has a somewhat artificial smell but it isn’t overpowering and does help in combating minor odors that might sneak out. Unfortunately, these odors can and do tend to sneak out when the clumps break and since this is a fairly common occurrence with this litter it is a handy feature to have. This is mostly related to feces, however, and urine is absorbed quite well into the clay and stays there until the litter is exhausted. This is mostly for single-cat boxes and if you try to introduce it to a busier litter box the clumps breaking down could become a much larger issue.
Messiness –
Being a clay-based litter, it is on the dustier side. And this dust for some reason has an almost “sticky” feel to it and likes to attach itself to the litter box, floor, and even your cat! This means there is also some tracking so be prepared for that. Clumps, if taken care of quickly, are not a big deal but if you want too long they start to fall apart and can make quite a mess.
Value –
This product is generally available online for mid to premium-price ranges. This is higher priced than we typically like to see for a clay cat litter.
Overall Rating –
The So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Scented Cat Litter Review earns 2 cats out of 5. There are too many small issues with this example to consider it a buy. It is extremely messy and the smell can be a bit much. At least the clumping is alright, but unless it was half the price that it is we wouldn’t recommend it. We also wish that it could handle all moisture better since that is what we thought it was designed to do.
