This is our Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Lightweight Multi-Cat Cat Litter Review. Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal Lightweight Multi-Cat is a lightweight litter that is intended for households with multiple cats. This litter boasts a 7-day guaranteed odor control, even with multiple cats using a box. Also, it is guaranteed to be dust free and but up to 50% lighter than regular litters. This litter can be purchased in 9 and 15-pound boxes.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is intended for households that have multiple cats and/or busy litter boxes but would like a lightweight solution while still sticking to clay. In other words, they want the benefits of clay without the conventional complaint of being heavy. Furthermore, the perfume added to the litter is directed towards owners and cats who may be put off by the somewhat potent smell of clay. Finally, at its current price point, it is intended for those who are willing to spend a little extra on a good product but don’t want to break the bank.
What Makes this Cat Litter Unique
Attempting to combine the power of a multi-cat litter with the convenience of a lightweight solution is a very lofty goal. Also, promising adequate clumping while being 100% dust-free raises the expectations even higher. And offering this and not even approaching the premium price tier for litters is quite special. There is a lot to appreciate here on paper.
Clumping Ability –
Perhaps it is the lightweight attribute but, unfortunately, this product has some issues with clumping. Early on (as in a day or two in) it can clump decently, but even then the clumps are somewhat soft and can fall apart easily. On top of this, the litter can become gooey and start to the sides of the box and cat paws instead of to their feces and urine as it is supposed to. When left alone, these bits of cat waste can re-harden, often in places that you don’t want them to.
Scent –
The scent has a quite powerful artificial smell, which they probably thought was necessary in order to mask the smell of multiple cats using it. However, despite these fragrances, there are still some complaints of cat smells still leaking out of the box after a couple of days of being used. For a single-cat or maybe a two-cat family this product might pass the 7-day guarantee but if you have any more cats watch out. After a few days, overwhelming cat odors can begin to leak from the litter box.
Messiness –
There are some major issues with tracking while using this product. This likely can be derived back to the fact that it is an extremely light litter. However, the fact that the litter can also stick to cat paws means that it isn’t just an issue with litter falling outside the immediate vicinity of the box, but instead that cats will even track this stuff out as they walk around the house.
As mentioned above, the litter has a tendency to re-harden after being moved around, meaning that you might find yourself having to clean harden clumps in areas outside of the litter box. Being a clay product, there is also some minor dust that will occur when the litter is being replaced. This isn’t anything you haven’t seen in clay litters before. But it may be elevated here compared to similar clay litters on the market.

This litter can be yours typically in the mid-priced range. Unfortunately, we aren’t seeing a level of performance that makes the cost worth your while. There are more expensive cat litters out there but most offer up significant advantages in performance and usability.
Overall Rating –
The Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Lightweight Multi-Cat Cat Litter Review earns 2 cats out of 5. Sub-par clumping, off-putting scents, extreme dust and stickiness, and a somewhat high sticker price make this a litter to avoid in our opinion. There are many other options in this price range that will suit you much better.
