This is because non-clumping cat litter will typically be completely emptied when it is time to replace. If you are someone that prefers clumping litter, you will probably be scooping out cat waste with a scoop, thereby negating the main benefit of a cat litter liner.
Another thing to consider is that the cat litter liner will create a volume between the cat litter and the cat litter box. If the liner happens to rip, it can allow cat waste to seep through and find its way in between the litter and the litter box. This can result in a stinky mess when you go to emptying the litter box.

Pureness is another brand that has an extremely popular cat litter liner online. And we like how affordable their liners are. An added benefit is that they are made of 65% recycled plastic. Their 3-ply no tear technology helps them stand up to large amounts of cat litter or the occasional sharp claw brushing against it. However, they aren’t quite as large as some of the other liners that we have tested. They are good for litter boxes up to 19” x 15” but for anything larger, they won’t work.

Jonny Cat is a brand that we have reviewed several cat litters from. They have branched out into making cat litter accessories as well (including these liners). Their liners are on the larger side, coming in at 36” x 18”. At this size, they will fit most large or jumbo litter boxes and extra deep litter boxes. You will have plenty of extra space to wrap the liner in nice and tight, even on the larger multi-cat litter boxes on the market. The only negative is the price: these are some of the more expensive liners you can buy.
Fresh Kitty Super Thick Litter Box Liners
For people that like to buy in bulk to save the headache of having to constantly restock, Fresh Kitty makes a huge box of 80 count litter liners. These liners come in at a good size (36” x 19”). The plastic that is used is extremely scratch resistant. We also have found the drawstrings to be quite resilient and able to handle even a full litter box.
Kitty Litty Litter Box Liners
These are another solid offering by a smaller company. They come in the same large sizes that we like to see (36” x 18”) which makes them great for really deep litter boxes. They are a bit more expensive than some of the other liners that we have tested but you can tell that the quality is certainly there. And for the added reassurance that the liners aren’t going to tear or break during use is worth a slight upcharge on our book.
Nature’s Miracle Odor Control Liners
Nature’s Miracle is another brand that we are quite familiar with thanks to their solid lineup of cat litters. However, they also have made a name for themselves with their selection of litter box liners. They are among the largest litter liners you will find anywhere (39” x 22”). An added benefit is that they come with antimicrobial protection which helps guard against bacteria growth (a common source of odors). They also have a fragrance to them that resembles the fragrance used in some of their cat litters. And with a thickness of 3 mils, they are some of the thickest liners you can buy.
Hefty Litter Box Liners
Just about everybody has heard from Hefty because of their trash bags. And seeing how there are some big similarities between trash bags and litter liners, it is no surprise that there are trash bag companies that have branched into making litter liners. These liners are on the thinner side (only 1.5 mils thick) so you will need to be extra careful while handling them to avoid tearing. However, the will have the same proven Hefty drawstrings that you have come to enjoy while using their trash bags.
