Advertised Product Description
This is our Cat’s Pride Natural Cat Litter Review. Cat’s Pride Natural is a non-clumping litter that is completely free of all additives, dyes, and fragrances. This makes it useful for those cats or owners who are sensitive to certain smells or have bad allergies. This clay-based litter will trip and absorb odor quickly and effectively and is advertised as having a low-dust formula and making the litter as maintenance-free as possible. Available in 10 and 20-pound bags.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This product is meant for those owners and cats (typically single cat households) who have issues with products that are loaded with harsh chemicals and strong perfumes and prefer something more straightforward. While being after a more natural recipe, these owners still prefer to go with a conventional clay product in addition to not requiring or wanting clumping abilities in their litter. This makes it good for people who don’t have the time or desire to manually remove clumps and would rather simply dump out the entire box and put new litter in as necessary.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This is one of the few litters that have a combination of having a natural approach, not using any sort of strong perfumes, and doesn’t have clumping capabilities despite being a clay litter. While these attributes don’t typically go together, Cat’s Pride is confident that they work and that there is a target market that needs just these things.
Clumping Ability – N/A
This litter is not designed to clump.
Scent –
Being fragrance-free, you don’t have to worry about any powerful artificial smells with this product. There is still a modest clay smell but you have to expect that to be the case with any clay litter. It does an average job of capturing cat smells but you should expect some whiffs to kick up any time urine or feces are exposed to the air. Also, if this is used with multiple cats the smell can become quite challenging rather quickly so be prepared to replace the litter more often or just stick to single cats per litter box.
Messiness –
This litter is a bit dustier than we would have liked to see. Anytime the small particles are moved around, clay dust will kick up and this can be very uncomfortable if either your cat or yourself are exposed to it. The urine is absorbed pretty well, however, so the “concrete” feel that sometimes occurs shouldn’t be an issue here.
Tracking is about average so don’t be surprised if a few stray granules find their way out of the box over time. The big selling point here is that you don’t have to worry about removing clumps, so overall there is less maintenance than a typical clay litter which will appeal to some.
Value –
and save
Online this product is oftentimes available in the mid-price tier. This is a bit higher than we like to see for clay-based litters. And that fact that this litter also doesn’t clump makes the asking price even more questionable.
Overall Rating –
The Cat’s Pride Natural Cat Litter Review earns 2.5 cats out of 5. Nothing is amazing about this product, despite its unique approach of being a natural, non-clumping clay litter. It has serviceable performance overall but has some specific struggles with odor control in addition to a bit higher tracking and dust levels than we like to see. For what you are getting the price could also be a bit lower.
