This is our Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Fresh Scent Cat Litter Review.  Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Fresh Scent Clumping Litter contains ammonia odor blocks that are combined with baking soda crystals to help eliminate tough odors.  This product is advertised as having extremely low dust and low tracking.  This clay-based litter is available in 14, 20, and 28-pound boxes.

Who This Cat Litter is Intended For

This cat litter is intended for those who like to keep it simple and have an effective litter for a single-cat litter box.  Without all of the fancy bells and whistles, it is designed to form nice, hard clumps, retain fluid quickly, and keep odor locked in.  Also, it is targeted at those who are trying to save money on their cat litter as it is very affordable.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This litter is unique in that it is very straightforward with its approach to litter performance.  It tries to do everything that is expected of a cat litter without requiring any exotic material or fancy slogans, and it does so while keeping a low price point in mind.

Clumping Ability – 

This litter does a very good job of clumping.  The clumps stay quite hard to the point that even an automatic litter box should have no problem.  Cleanup is pretty easy and if removed promptly a box of this should last for a while. The clumps that do form stay quite hard and shouldn’t fall apart even when cats accidentally move them or step on them.

While it isn’t intended for multiple cat boxes, the clumps are so good that you could get away using it in a busier litter box, as long as proper maintenance is practiced.  The key is timely cleanup.

Scent – 

Similar to other Arm and Hammer litters, the litter scent is a hit or miss based on the individual.  However, almost everyone agrees that the scent that is there is quite intense.  Intense doesn’t mean “bad” but that it is present and tends to linger for a few hours when a new batch of litter is put into the box or the existing litter is stirred up.  So if the litter’s smell is something that you don’t enjoy it is probably going to be too much to handle.

However, if you do happen to enjoy the scent or even can simply tolerate it then it might not be an issue.  The litter scent aside, this product does a good job of actually masking cat odor smells.  It should be able to handle a relatively busy litter box’s waste smells for several days without any major concerns.

Messiness –  

There is some dust with this product.  Many have recommended that you open a window or door whenever refilling or cleaning, so Arm & Hammer’s statement that it is nearly dustless needs to be reconsidered.  The powerful smell mentioned above will also sometimes get kicked up with the dust so, again, make sure you and your cat are comfortable with the smell.  Also, minor tracking issues have been reported but it isn’t anything overly concerning, and it is more than acceptable for a clay litter.

This litter is available in the budget-price range.  This is sort of expected for clay litters but we still give some bonus points for being this affordable.  There are much more expensive clay litter options out there that don’t perform as well.
