This is our Cat’s Pride Complete Multi-Cat Cat Litter Review. Cat’s Pride Complete Multi-Cat litter is a high-performance clay-based litter that has multiple layers and is intended for multiple cats. The triple-action odor control is advertised as putting out low dust and a clean scent all the while embossing the low-maintenance tendencies that most non-clumping litters enjoy. It is available in a 20-pound bag.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is intended for multi-cat households that are looking for a proven and straightforward cat litter that tries to do everything well without any fancy ingredients or tricky gimmicks. In addition, since it doesn’t clump it is targeted to households that either don’t want to go through the process of manually removing clumps or that simply prefers non-clumping products. It is also directed towards people on a tight budget who will be focusing their searches in the budget price category but don’t want to skimp on quality in the process.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This product is unique in that it tries to fit the mold of a great litter without having the typically helpful attribute of clumping. Clumping is a very common way to seal in odors and lengthen litter life, but it isn’t for everyone, and often times giving up the clumping ability means you are giving up some performance. This litter tries to break that mold while maintaining a good price point.
Clumping Ability – N/A
This litter is not designed to clump.
The natural smell of this product isn’t overly intense. It has a bit of an artificial scent to it but that should dissipate rather quickly once the litter is settled into the litter box. Overall, despite not being a clumping litter, it does a reasonably good job of locking in the cat smells and keeping them locked in for a few days. Only in cases where feces are suddenly exposed to the air will you get a whiff of it. When multiple cats are using the box, it still does an acceptable job, which we would expect and hope for as it is targeted towards multi-cat households.
Unfortunately, when cat urine hits this litter it oftentimes results in it becoming extremely hard to the point where it feels like cement. This makes it difficult to clean since you literally have to scrape it out. In addition, any that happens to get on the bottom of the cat’s paws or on its fur will stick to it like glue and be tracked all throughout the house! This is a bit concerning to see these issues when a single cat uses it. When two or three cats are using the same box the issue becomes even worse. Dust isn’t overly concerning with this product but the cement-like qualities alone make it worth treading cautiously.
Expect to typically pay in the budget-priced tier for this product online. This is exactly what we look for in a clay litter. And considering that this litter doesn’t clump, we would expect the price to reflect this.
Overall Rating –
The Cat’s Pride Complete Multi-Cat Cat Litter Review earns 3 cats out of 5. This is a pretty affordable litter that is an acceptable odor neutralizer but that is a bit on the messy side, especially when it comes to the litter sticking to cat’s fur or paws.
Obviously, you forego clumping ability with many of the budget litters but if you are in the market for something that you simply dump out when it is exhausted then there are worse choices than this. However, keep in mind that if you do plan on using this with multiple cats that the mess can worsen so either try to put it in a place you don’t mind getting a bit dirty or expect to do quite a bit of cleaning.
