Who This Cat Litter is Intended For

This cat litter is designed for those who are looking for a conventional clay litter that can handle the challenging demands of a multi-cat litter box when it comes to odor control and clumping ability.  This may come at the cost of high dust levels, but the overall performance plus the typically reasonable price is what is most important to them.  It is also good for people who go on vacations or are away from the home for several days but who strive for long odor control life.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This is a good example of one of a clay litter that attempts to do everything well in the performance category while still maintaining a reasonable price.  Cat’s Pride has attempted to optimize this product specifically for multi-cat litter boxes all the while finding ways to keep it affordable.

Clumping Ability – 

This product clumps very well and the clumps stay hard for quite some time, which is helpful if you have a lot of cats using it or are unable to constantly monitor the box.  The clumps are small enough to be easily handled and preserve a good amount of product.  This means that even in a relatively busy litter box you can expect longer than average usage out of a given bag since removing clumps doesn’t remove as much product.  This saves time and money because that means fewer trips to the store or online to buy a new bag or container.

Scent – 

The smell of this litter is a bit too intense for many.  It has a strong perfume smell that is intended to help mask what could amount to a lot of cat waste for a multiple-cat family using a box.  Unfortunately even despite the addition of the perfume, there are some issues with fecal and urine smells escaping through, especially after a couple of days.

We don’t recommend testing the “3X as long” promise or you may be in for a rude awakening.  If you clean the box at timely intervals then it shouldn’t be too bad as long as you and your cat can put up with the natural smell of the litter.

Messiness – 

Good clumping ability comes at a cost.  Being clay-based it is quite dusty.  The dust seems to linger in the air for hours after being moved around, which can happen quite often if two or three cats are using a single litter box.  This could be an issue for those cats or owners who have respiratory issues.

Also, while this litter is “flushable” we don’t recommend doing so unless you have to.  There have been reports of it damaging and clogging up toilets so try to dispose of it the conventional way if possible.  There is also a bit of tracking you’ll have to deal with, but thankfully it is mostly just dust and a majority of the litter itself seems to stay put in the box.

Value –

This litter will generally run in the budget to mid-priced range online.  While this may seem reasonable enough, it does tend to approach mid-range a bit too close to warrant a strong nod from us.

Overall Rating – 

The Cat’s Pride Complete Multi-Cat Scoopable Cat Litter Review earns 3 cats out of 5.  While this product has great clumping attributes the smell and relative messiness (especially related to the dust levels)  knock it down a couple of notches.  If you are looking to be somewhat frugal and are primarily concerned with clumping ability at the cost of smell and additional cleanup then this cat litter might work for you.
