This product is directed towards people with multiple cats or busy litter boxes and that need effective odor control while enjoying the fresh scent that this clay litter puts out.  Also, it is designed to assist people who can’t maintain their litter box as often as they would like by striving for 24-hour odor protection.  Finally, the formula is based on the budget-conscious and will be affordable by most people.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This product is unique in that it tries to tackle challenging odor control that exists in multiple cat litter boxes while still having a refreshing scent that people and cats with both enjoy.  Many of the artificial scents that litters have can be too overpowering, but Cat’s Pride has tried to get away from that and have a smell that is pleasant and not simply there to try to mask other odors.

Clumping Ability – 

The clumping can be hit or miss with this litter.  Some people have enjoyed the effectiveness of the clumps in this litter, but they have generally only had a single cat using it.  Many people have reported that when a second or third cat shares the box that the clumps start to fall apart because of a combination of them being overwhelmed by too much waste and also deteriorating when being moved around.  That being said, what does soak in is very absorbent and you don’t have to worry about standing urine or feces as it soaks right up into the clay concoction initially.

Scent – 

Despite their attempt at a “fresh and light” smell, the scent is quite strong and may not be for everyone.   While it doesn’t have quite the nostril burn that some of the competition has the scent is there and will linger for some time, especially in smaller rooms.  It does, however, do a good job of masking the cat smells and will continue to do so for several days or until the clumps start to fall apart.  So be sure to keep an eye on the clumps that are in there and not let them sit for very long.

Messiness – 

Unfortunately, this litter is extremely dusty.  Being clay-based this is to be expected to some extent but we think the fact that it is lightweight while still being clay means it is a perfect recipe for lots of dust, and we have noticed a similar trend in other lightweight clay litters.

The pebbles can also be tracked outside of the box pretty easily.  Thankfully most of this issue will revolve around dry or clean pebbles as any of that cat’s business is generally soaked up quite easily in the box.  However, the more cats you have the more of an issue the tracking will be, and it can be quite a bit of work to keep things clean around a busy litter box.

This litter can be had online for between budget to mid-priced.  For a clay-based litter, this is nothing to get excited about and is average at best.

Overall Rating – 

The Cat’s Pride Fresh & Light All Day Odor Control Cat Litter Review earns 2.5 cats out of 5.  A pretty average showing on all fronts, and a pretty average price to go with it.  The scent is a bit too strong for some and there are some tracking issues, but there are no glaring issues beyond that.  If you are in a pinch and there aren’t many other options this will do but if you are buying online then there are better choices, even at the relatively low price point.
