Advertised Product Description
This is our Jonny Cat Original Cat Litter Review. Jonny Cat Original cat litter contains highly absorbent clay that helps to quickly lock in moisture. The proprietary odor eliminator starts to work immediately to help this litter to be long-lasting and smell-free. This product is available in 10, 20, and 40-pound bags.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This product is intended for owners who are looking for a simple solution to their odor control challenges for their single cat or relatively low-traffic litter box. More specifically, they prefer clay-based cat litters that don’t try to implement tons of unique and exotic features and materials and just let the clay do the talking. Also, they prefer to simply empty their litter box when it is exhausted rather than deal with removing clumps every couple of days. Finally, they are willing to spend what it takes to get a litter that adheres to these principles.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This cat litter is unique in its overall simplicity. It is a rarity to see a product that doesn’t try to overwhelm the user with exclamations of the huge list of ingredients they use, their proprietary multiple-stage odor-fighting plan, or a host of other things. That isn’t to say that those items aren’t helpful or important, but it is refreshing to see a litter just try to keep things simple and still stand behind its viability.
Clumping Ability – N/A
This product is not intended to clump. Rather you are expected to simply empty the entire box each week.
Scent –
There is a clay-like smell associated with this product. In terms of intensity, we would put it at a “5 out of 10”. There are many more pungent litters on the market but there is still a noticeable scent to this, especially when you get close to it. Thankfully it isn’t overly artificial or perfumey.
In terms of odor control, this litter does a pretty good job of hiding it as long as you stick to the weekly habit of completely emptying it. If you go even a day or two over things can start to get stinky real quick. We are somewhat impressed with this considering that this litter doesn’t use a ton of other ingredients to help fight odors.
Messiness –
There is a bit of dust that goes with this product. Unfortunately, this is how a lot of clay litters are. Whenever you remove and fill up the box expect there to be some that kick up. There is also some light tracking that might occur from the dust getting on your cat but it isn’t anything alarming. The fact that you aren’t in the box digging around for clumps every day makes it a lot less burdensome and also saves on some of the potential mess, however.
Value –
Prices vary but typically fall into the premium-price area. This is quite high for a clay litter and somewhat of a turnoff for us. There are plenty of clay litters with a comparable performance that can be had for much cheaper.
Overall Rating –
The Jonny Cat Original Cat Litter Review earns 2.5 out of 5 cats. There is nothing really to get excited about with this product. It is a standard-performing clay litter, so why does it sometimes cost nearly twice as much as other clay options on the market? Especially considering that it is missing features such as clumping and extra-long litter life. It will do what you need for the most part but unless you have no other options (or happen to find a great sale on this stuff) then we recommend shopping around.
