This is our Precious Cat Long Haired Cat Litter Review.  Precious Cat Long Haired Cat Litter is aimed at helping with especially long hair cats that have had issues with litter sticking to them in the past.  It is composed of an amorphous silica gel that is infused with hydrolyzed herbs which help to draw cats to the litter box.  The particle size is optimized for long-haired cats as well.  All of this comes in a biodegradable, hypo-allergenic package that is advertised to adequately trap urine and feces odor on contact.  It is available in an 8-pound jug.

Who This Cat Litter is Intended For

As the name suggests, this cat litter is targeted towards cats (both single-cat and multi-cat households) that have especially long hair and have had struggles with other types of litter in the past because of it.  Not only are the litter granules optimized to minimize tracking from long-haired cats, but they are also designed to be hypoallergenic.

This litter is also good for those who do not wish to deal with removing clumps and that also prefer or are open to trying out materials other than clay.  Finally, this product is meant for those owners who are willing to spend a decent amount of money for a product that solves their needs.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This is a unique cat litter in that it is optimized for long-haired cats which is something very few litters on the market can say.  Also, this product is made of a much less common material (silica gel) which comes with typically have unique benefits such as low dust and specialized odor control.

Clumping Ability – N/A

This product is not intended for clumping.  Rather, the moisture is absorbed by the crystals and essentially broken down and removed as necessary or the entire box can be removed and replaced as well.

Scent – 

The litter has a faint perfume smell to it that isn’t overpowering and will be accepted by most cats and owners.  It is always refreshing to not have to deal with the somewhat pungent smell of clay.  Despite not completely covering up the waste, it also does an acceptable job of masking urine and feces odors for several days.  This can be attributed to the specialized punch of the silica gel and herb composition.  Since there is no clumping there is no “locking in” of the odors around an encased shell, so timely removal is important particularly if you have multiple cats using a single box.

Messiness – 

Removing waste from the box can be quite messy.  Since you aren’t removing hardened chunks but rather areas of broken-down crystals and mushed-up cat waste, it can be a bit more laborious and easier to spread everything around.  This can make the litter box not only makes it harder to clean but can also potentially kick the smells back up.

Some people prefer to just wait until the entire litter box is spent and dump it all out in one big sweep to make the process much easier.  There is also quite a bit of dust with this product and will get kicked up whenever the cat uses it or especially when you are adding or removing litter.  This dust also can be tracked outside of the box.  However, the litter itself does a good job of not sticking to the cat as advertised.

Value – 

This is typically available online in the premium-priced tier.  Specialty litters such as this one tend to be higher priced but we still have to give some negative points due to the extremely high price tag.

Overall Rating – 

The Precious Cat Long Haired Cat Litter Review earns 2.5 out of 5 cats.  For being a non-clumping litter the price is very high.  This is simply the cost of admission when you go with some of the more exotic materials such as silica gel.  For cats with long hair that have issues with conventional litters, there might not be any other choice that helps to minimize tracking.  The odor control is quite good although it is a messy product.
