Advertised Product Description
This is our Precious Cat Ultra Scented Cat Litter Review. Precious Cat Ultra Scented cat litter is essentially the Precious Cat Ultra cat litter with a fresh scent that kicks in after the litter is used. It contains the same unique clay formula that promises hard clumping as well as good absorbency. It is advertised as being all-natural, 99.9% dust-free, and good for multiple cats. It is available in 40-pound bags and boxes and 20-pound bags and boxes.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is intended for those who enjoy a conventional clay-based litter, particularly its ability to clump. This product is also designed to handle both single and multi-cat litter boxes. It is also good for those owners or cats who enjoy or at least don’t mind the inclusion of artificial scent for added odor control performance. Finally, the owner needs to be a bit flexible on how much they are willing to spend on cat litter as it can fluctuate quite a bit with this product.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This cat litter is unique because it takes the tried and true version of Precious Cat Ultra and adds a perfume scent to it. While the perfume scent may not be for everyone, there is a group that does prefer the smell of an artificial scent over the typical industrial smell of clay. Other than that it sticks to the basics and Precious Cat feels that they have a great product for both single and multiple cats alike.
Clumping Ability –
Similar to the conventional Ultra line, this clumps extremely well. The clay seems to encase any feces that it comes in contact with it is also has no problem absorbing quite a bit of urine before having any issues with it sinking to the bottom of the box or becoming pasty.
Also, only the necessary amount of granules seem to be used to encase the feces so a bag of this should last for a while. It does a great job with both high traffic and low traffic litter boxes and should last for several days without having to worry about removing clumps.
Scent –
Being scented, this product does have a noticeably stronger smell to it than the non-perfume variety. That being said, it is kept in check for the most part and shouldn’t be overpowering to most cats and owners. It does have a bit of artificial smell to it, but that is a minor complaint and honestly to be expected.
Overall, cat odor control is adequate for several days. Very few bad cat waste smells come out, even in a busy litter box. If you neglect to change it, however, it will let you know very quickly as it seems to almost “dump” the smell of urine into the air.
Messiness –
In general, this product has very little dust. There is some minor tracking but it is about average for a clay litter. Cleaning up waste is super easy as it is literally like picking up small rocks. Make sure you keep the urine control in check, however. The one weak point of this product is if exposed to too much moisture it turns pasty very quickly. And due to the extremely hard nature of it, there can be some major issues with scraping it off of the sides of the box and even your cat. But timely due diligence will avoid this issue.
Value –
Prices for this product only can range somewhat but typically fall in the mid to premium-priced areas. We have a feeling that this mostly has to do with availability. If you shop around you should be able to find it for much cheaper. However, we go off of the price when we purchased it so we had to knock a couple of points off here.
Overall Rating –
The Precious Cat Ultra Scented Cat Litter Review earns 3.5 cats out of 5. The clumping shines here and the odor control is always quite good. It does live up to the multi-cat name printed on its label. There is a bit harsh of smell and the price could be a bit lower, and for both of those reasons, we had to drop the rating down some. This is still a solid choice for most applications.
