Advertised Product Description
This is our Scoop Away Complete Performance Cat Litter Review. Scoop Away Complete Performance cat litter is marketed as being a scented all-in-one cat litter. It is maximum strength in regards to odor control and has powerful clumping ability, which makes it perfect for multi-cat boxes. This is accomplished through the use of plant extracts that are embedded in the litter. It is available in 42-pound bags.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This cat litter is intended for those who prefer to keep things simple by going with a clay litter that has clumping capabilities. Also, it is targeted at cats and owners who don’t mind the smell of artificial perfume. Furthermore, both single and multi-cat households can benefit from this product as it is designed for both. In regards to price, this product is directed towards though that have a budget in mind but are willing to spend a bit extra for a viable product.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This Cat Litter is unique because it exclaims itself as being the complete package. In other words, it is a good choice for a wide variety of litter box scenarios. This is a lofty statement when considering that Scoop Away kept things pretty straightforward in using a pretty normal perfumed clay litter as the solution.
Clumping Ability –
Overall this product clumps feces quite well. The clumps are a bit large but stay hard for several days. It does struggle a little more with moisture, however, and there have been reports of some urine in multi-cat litter boxes finding its way to the bottom of the box and creating a stinky sludgy mess after just a few days. This is especially true in high-traffic boxes which this product might find itself in quite often.
Scent –
This stuff is very heavily perfumed, and unfortunately, most people will find the smell to simply be too much. Cats sensitive to strong smells might also dislike it to the point that they refuse to use it. We are not sure what causes the potency but we suspect the plant extracts might have something to do with it.
This is a bit surprising as often plant extracts are used because they produce a more mild smell than harsh chemical perfumes. The worst part is that the smell seems to stick to whatever it touches so if you or your cat touches the litter then expect to be wearing that scent once you leave as well! It does a decent job of masking feces smell but can struggle with urine to the point where the ammonia smell can come out after just a couple of days.
Messiness –
This is one of the dustier litters we have come across. The frustrating part is that the dust seems to stick to everything and it also has the powerful perfume smell to go along with it. In regards to cleanup, the clumps should stay hard enough to make removal mostly care-free but the urine can become a challenge when it seeps through to the bottom. You are left with a sticky, pasty mess that will require a lot of scraping to get off.
Value –
Online prices for this litter generally fall in the mid-priced range. While this may seem middle of the road, clay litters tend to be cheaper which means that this might be a bit pricier than most other similar types of products.
Overall Rating –
The Scoop Away Complete Performance Cat Litter Review earns 2 out of 5 cats. For being “complete performance” this product is missing on several marks. The clumps, albeit large, do alright but the smell is simply too much to bear. That, plus the dust and tracking issues make this one best left avoided, even at the somewhat affordable price.
