Advertised Product Description
This is our So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Unscented Cat Litter Review. So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Unscented Scoopable cat litter is advertised as being an extra-absorbent clumping litter that contains natural minerals that assist in exceptional odor control. This clay also helps to absorb moisture quickly and it promises tight, hard clumps that provide easy cleanup. This product is available in 16 and 30-pound tubs and a 40-pound bag.
Who This Cat Litter is Intended For
This product is intended for those owners of single or multiple cats who have struggled with keeping waste odors in check and want to try something new. However, they would like to stick to a clay-based litter and also retain clumping capabilities. Also, they and/or their cat have issues with many of the strong perfumes that manufacturers put in cat litters so would prefer to go with an unscented product. Finally, prices are relatively important and, while they are willing to spend a bit extra for something that works, they want to try to avoid breaking the bank.
What Makes This Cat Litter Unique
This cat litter is unique in that it tries to directly combat one of the most difficult challenges in cat litters: fighting off and locking in odors. More impressive, they try to do this without the usage of fancy materials such as crystals or carbon granules, and they even opt to not include a perfume. This shows us that So Phresh is confident in their product and feels that the clay they use will meet these high expectations.
Clumping Ability –
The clay that is used for this litter does a great job of clumping. The clumps are hard and stay hard for up to a week. Also, they only use the necessary amount of litter which helps to prolong the life of a given bag or tub of this product. The consistency of this product is more “sand-like” than many other clay litters on the market and it does affect both the texture of clumps as well as the ability to absorb waste liquids. Liquids can overwhelm the litter in large quantities present in busy multi-cat boxes so be cautious of this.
Scent –
This is a fragrance-free litter and other than a slight clay smell that is present in nearly all litters it does a good job of holding up its promises. This is great for those cats and owners who might be sensitive to those fumes or have allergy issues. The clumps do a good job of locking in feces smells for long periods and urine is kept in check as long as it doesn’t overwhelm the box.
Messiness –
This product is quite dusty. While this can be an issue in many clay litters it is noticeably worse with this one. It also tends to track quite a bit so expect to have to deal with random pieces of litter outside of the box and the occasional one that is carried far away from the box from sticking to cat paws/fur. The more sandy feel of this litter might account for this.
Thankfully the clumping is good so it is easy to dispose of waste without major concern of it falling apart while doing so. As long as you are timely with replacing the litter then moisture should not be a concern either. But if you do negate your monitoring then the sandy texture can become quite sticky and attach to everything, including your cat.
Value –
Online prices have been observed to usually be in the mid-price vicinity. This is not great but not terrible, either. But some notable concerns would be easier to overlook if this was a true budget cat litter.
Overall Rating –
The So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Unscented Cat Litter Review earns 3 out of 5 cats. A pretty standard offering, this example doesn’t have any unique selling points other than that it does everything relatively well, and without having to use clumping or perfumes. The price it is currently at is a good level for defending this description, and we wouldn’t fault someone who decided to give this litter a go especially if they meet the target audience.
