This is our Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance Cat Litter Review.  Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance cat litter is advertised as being able to keep odor under control 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  This is accomplished partially by quickly locking in moisture and also by the powerful odor control additives that are inside of the litter.  It also promises strong clumps that harden quickly and are easily cleaned up as well as a 99.6% dust-free experience.  This product is available in 14 and 20-pound jugs, 27 and 35-pound pails, and 23, 27, and 40-pound boxes.

Who This Cat Litter is Intended For

This cat litter is designed for those who are looking for more thorough odor protection at all times of the day.  This could be due to a busy schedule where they can’t always check the litter box promptly or perhaps they have multiple cats using a single litter box.  They and their cats like clay-based litters that utilize conventional clumping ability and don’t mind a bit of a litter perfume smell.  Finally, they are willing to spend a decent amount of money on a product that works.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This cat litter is unique because it exclaims that it is up to the task of a demanding litter box at all times of the day and all periods of litter life.  This is a pretty bold statement, as many litters start strong but lose their potency pretty quickly once they reach the saturation point with cat waste.  The fact that Tidy Cats stands behind this product so confidently and that it utilizes a pretty straightforward approach of clumping clay piques our interest in it.

Clumping Ability – 

The clumps that this product forms are rock hard and harden up very quickly.  It has no problem dealing with feces or urine and both harden into easily-contained balls that are large enough to be identified but not so large as to use up a lot of the product in a single instance.  Also, the clumps typically stay at the top of the box so there is little worry about potential sinking which could break down the clumps and make them a mess to clean up while also opening back up the contained odor.  This is also true for multi-cat scenarios which often can put a real strain on a litter.

Scent – 

There is a typical clay scent with this product and has some artificial undertones but nothing to be alarmed over.  The litter smell settles after a couple of hours and most cats and owners don’t seem to mind it.  In regards to locking in cat smells, it does a great job of hiding feces smells in its clumps.  Since the clumps stay hard for so long there is no real opportunity for smells to escape.  This also goes for urine which is also well-contained, something that can be a challenge for many other litters.

Messiness – 

About average levels of dust exist with this product.  Despite the 99.6% dust-free advertisements, we find there to be a bit more dust than that.  Expect some minor tracking of both dust and the actual litter but most of it stays near the box since it is heavy enough to not be easily carried away via your cat’s fur or paws.  Both feces and urine clumps are easily identifiable and should stay together while being removed, via manually or even with the use of an automatic litter box.   Very little moisture escapes so scraping the gunk off the sides of the box is not a concern with this litter.

Value – 

Online prices for this product typically fall in the mid to premium-priced area.  This is quite high and, considering their recent struggles with their new formula, makes this not a very attractive price point.  But now that they have figured out the issues, the price, while still, high does at least give you a high-performing product.

Overall Rating – 

The Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance Cat Litter Review earns 4.5 out of 5 cats.  This is a fantastic product.  The clumps are some of the hardest that we have seen and that stays so for multiple days.  They do live up to their 24/7 performance name.  There is essentially no odor issues in both urine and feces.  Minor tracking and a somewhat high price are the only small complaints but the rest of the positives easily trump them.
