This natural clay product has the Glade Odor Solution deodorizing system injecting into it which promises to help neutralize even the most potent smells.  Also, the litter itself contains a clear spring scent, is 99.6% dust free and offers low tracking.  This product is available in 10-pound paper bags and 20, 30, 40, and 50-pound weave bags.

Who This Cat Litter is Intended For

This cat litter is intended for multi-cat households who have to deal with especially high traffic litter boxes and the odors that they can produce.  They prefer to stick with a clay product but do not have the time or desire to deal with removing clumps.  Also, they and their cats don’t have an issue with a product using artificial perfumes to help mask bad odors.  Finally, saving money is an important consideration and their target product needs to be quite affordable.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This cat litter is unique in that it tries to tackle busy multi-cat litter boxes without utilizing specialized or exotic litter material or even needing clumping ability.  This is a pretty bold move considering how tough some of the litter boxes their products will be used on can be.

Clumping Ability – N/A

This product is not intended to clump.  Rather you are expected to simply dump out the entire contents as necessary and refill.  That being said, the clay is still designed to “capture” the feces and urine so it doesn’t sink to the bottom and pool up, which can cause all sorts of issues from difficulty cleaning to bacterial growth.

Scent – 

There is a rather strong chemical scent associated with this litter.  It is a hit or miss on whether the smell with agree with you and your cat so it is up to you to try it out.  That being said, cats with sensitive allergies or sense of smell might be turned off by it.  We were hoping that since the Glade scent implementation is one of the key selling points of this product that it would be more widely accepted.

In regards to odor protection, the odor solution does a great job of locking in the smells for long enough to be removed.  Having the waste “covered up” by the litter, helps, however.  Fully exposed waste might kick up some smell when it is disturbed and once it beings to pile up the smell of ammonia can creep out.

Messiness – 

A moderately dusty product, expect some minor dust tracking.  The clay dust can also stick to cat fur.  There will also be some occasional granules that fall out of the box but it isn’t something overly concerning.  Despite the non-clumping nature this litter does manage to lock in all of the moisture towards the top which means that you don’t have to worry about much scraping or stickiness.

Since you simply dump out the entire contents the only mess you can make is in the process of pouring out the old and putting in the new.  The busier the litter box the more often you will have to perform this task.

The Tidy Cats Glade Tough Odor Solutions Non-Clumping Cat Litter Review earns 3 cats out of 5.  This litter is average at best and has some underlying issues that will rear their ugly head if you apply this litter to busier multi-cat boxes.  It simply overpowers smells rather than masking them, it can be somewhat messy for cleanup, and it doesn’t even have a conventional method of clumping.  But that price!  For the affordability alone we have to give it 3 stars and people on a tight budget might still go for it.
