This is our Tidy Cats Small Spaces Cat Litter Review.  Tidy Cats Small Spaces cat litter is designed for cats that happen to live in smaller residents such as apartments where any smells that arise would easily spread throughout the entire living space.  It is designed to quickly neutralize odor before it even has the chance to spread.

This proprietary odor solution is multi-release, which has been tested to be more effective in stopping odors in small spaces.  It is moisture-activated and guarantees hard clumps.  Also, it is 99.6% dust-free.  This product is available in 14 and 20-pound jugs.

Who This Cat Litter is Intended For

This cat litter is intended for single or multi-cat households that are limited on space but still want a fast-acting and effective odor protector.  They would prefer to stick with a clay composition that also retains clumping ability.  Also, the inclusion of artificial perfumes is acceptable which means that you or your cats don’t suffer from allergies or a sensitive sense of smell.  Finally, this is good for those on a tight pet budget as it is typically quite affordable.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This cat litter is unique because it is specially designed for close quarters and has a multi-release formula that Tidy Cats believes will help to stop the spread of cat odors quickly and for long periods.  Focusing on small spaces is a very specialized approach and something that we rarely see other products pursuing.  We also like that they tried to accomplish these things using a standard clay material that is very affordable.

Clumping Ability – 

As promised the clumps formed by this litter stay pretty hard and get there promptly.  The clumps use an average amount of litter.  Also, the moisture-activated formula binds to urine and clumps it up rather well so you do not have to worry about the moisture sinking to the bottom of the box.  Even in busier litter boxes where there will be a lot more traffic the clumps hold up to being moved occasionally.

Scent – 

There is a slight perfume smell to this product but it isn’t overpowering and most cats and owners won’t mind it.  More importantly, it does a great job of trapping in the cat odors, both from feces and urine.  You can tell that the multi-stage odor solution is working and will continue to do so for several days.

The clumps stay hard enough that the chance of one breaking and releasing foul odors is slim.  And even when it does happen, the litter does a pretty good job of neutralizing it quickly.  We were very impressed with how little ammonia smell creeped out even after multiple days as this smell can be overpowering in small rooms.

Messiness – 

Being a clay litter it is moderately dusty.  However, it is nothing alarming and there are many worse options on the market.  The dust that does exist has some minor tracking and you might also find a few strays granules outside the box but again it is average at worst.

The clumps, both made of feces and urine, stay super hard, and are easy to remove without falling apart.  And very little of the moisture makes it to the box where it can stick and become an issue in removal.  We recommend trying to remove existing clumps at least twice a week but if you are unable to it shouldn’t be a major issue.

Value – 

Prices for this litter are typically in the budget-price area.  This is a fantastic asking price and among the most affordable options, you will find.
