UltraPet Crystal Clear Litter Pearls Cat Litter Review

Advertised Product Description

This is our UltraPet Crystal Clear Litter Pearls Cat Litter Review.  UltraPet Crystal Clear Litter Pearls cat litter is made of round pellets that are comprised of silica gel, which has a 70% smaller environmental impact than conventional clay litters.  They are advertised as having maximum odor control and great urine absorption while being paw-friendly.  Also, there is essentially no dust associated with this product.  It is available in 7-pound bags.

Who This Cat Litter is Intended For

This cat litter is typically for single-cat households that are wanting to try a more specialized material than clay or wood.  This might because of allergies associated with the smell,  dust that other materials put out, or because they enjoy the unique odor abilities of silica gels.

This product is also good for cats that might have sensitive paws.  Also, this is a non-clumping product so it is meant for owners who don’t want to deal with removing clumps regularly.  Finally, it is a pretty expensive product so it is targeted at those who are willing to spend a premium on a product that they and their cats enjoy.

What Makes This Cat Litter Unique

This cat litter is unique because it is made of silica gel, which comes with some cool and different features.  Despite being made of this, the manufacturer feels that this product can keep up with its competition, even without the need to clump or having to use strong artificial perfumes.

Clumping Ability – N/A

The product is not intended to clump.  Rather, it saps the cat waste solids and urine dry of its moisture and into the litter itself.  From here you can either manually scoop the feces or use an automatic litter to remove it.

Scent – 5 star

There is essentially no smell associated with the litter itself.  Silica does not have much of a natural smell to it.  Furthermore, it does a great job of locking in the cat smells, both from feces as well as urine.  Seemingly all of the odor-causing moisture that exists in the feces and especially urine is dried up, despite not being clumped in the litter or even completely submerged in it.  This means there is next to no concern of ammonia odors creeping out after a couple of days.  Furthermore, this litter keeps the odors locked in for several days at a time.

Messiness – 3 star

Due to the absorbency of this product, very little concern exists in regards to moisture reaching the bottom and making the mushy, sticky mess many people are used to when dealing with exhausted or under-performing clay litters.  Removing the feces is quite simple despite not being clumped and they should not fall apart when being moved.  The urine disappears and you are only reminded of it when the litter box is ready for a refresh.

Dust is a little worse with this product than other comparable crystal litters.  The biggest complaint is the beads themselves, which are perfectly round.  This coupled with their relatively light size, means that not only are they tracked outside of the box but they also will easily roll on hard surfaces.  Those with hardwood floors might find that some of these beads have managed to roll across the room and it is fairly common to accidentally step on them (and you’ll know when you do!).  So for those that don’t have their box on the carpet you might consider putting some sort of pad or rug underneath to help catch these beads.

Value – 1.5 star

Online prices are averaging well into the premium-price area.  This is somewhat of a norm for crystal-based cat litters and this aspect may turn them off many people’s radars who are on a tight pet budget.

Overall Rating – 3.5 star

The UltraPet Crystal Clear Litter Pearls Cat Litter Review earns 3.5 out of 5 cats.  A unique crystal approach with phenomenal odor control, but for a high price.  This has some of the best moisture absorption on the market and it keeps odor locked in for long periods.  Furthermore, the soft beads are great on cat paws.  The big question is if all of this is worth the extremely high price tag?
