Updated by Brandon F. on May 6, 2020

This is a listing of all Arm & Hammer cat litters that have been reviewed and we also list what we think are the best Arm & Hammer cat litters with our internal ranking system.

Arm & Hammer offers a wide variety of cat litter solutions, most of which are based on the inclusion of their well-established baking soda crystals.  More specifically, their baking soda is injected into many of the clay mixtures and also the more exotic materials that make up their products.

An Established Reputation

Arm & Hammer is one of the oldest and most well-respected companies on the market that make cat litter, so you know that when you go with one of their products you are taking advantage of decades of experience and established practices.  While there is nothing wrong with being the “new kids on the block”, the fact that they have been such an influential force in the cat litter game for so long shows that they know what they are doing and how to properly implement their key ingredient, baking soda, into almost all of their cat litters.

Huge Selection of Products

Arm & Hammer has one of the largest selections of cat litters to choose from.  Rather than focusing on one type of product or even one audience, they have instead decided to put their hands in a wide variety of categories.  These include both clumping and non-clumping products, single and multi-cat products, and they also implement a wide variety of other materials into their cat litters.

For instance, they have multiple choices that revolve around “natural” approaches, which take advantage of eco-friendly materials such as wood, plant extracts, and corn fibers.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, they also have some litter products that take advantage of more conventional materials like clay and crystals.

The one common tendency between all of their offerings is the inclusion of baking soda.  The fact that they can test the waters with many different approaches while still sticking to their core ingredient and what the foundation of their company is founded on shows that they have a good understanding of what it takes to make a variety of well-functioning cat litters.

Large Range of Sizes

arm & hammer cat litter range of sizes There is a very impressive array of product sizes that are offered, even within a given type of product.  This is helpful as someone with a single cat and that lives in a small apartment may not have the need or space for a huge 50-pound bag of cat litter.  On the contrary, someone with more room and a busier multi-cat litter box may go through cat litter much quicker and want to go with a larger package to save time and money.

Affordable Options

Arm & Hammer has a pretty wide range of asking prices for their products, with many falling into the budget category.  This means that no matter how tight of a pet budget you are on, you can likely find a product that takes advantage of the Arm & Hammer baking soda technology while still sticking to your financial goals.  Also, many of their budget offerings still rank quite well on our reviews. This shows us that just because it is cheaper doesn’t mean that Arm & Hammer took shortcuts in performance to get there.

Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal with MicroGuard

Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal With MicroGuard Cat Litter Review full

Our Rating

This is a fantastic cat litter that truly does what it says it does.  The strong clumping and odor control of clay is combined with baking soda and the new MicroGuard technology to create an awesome 1-2-3 punch that will stop cat litter odors in its tracks for several days.  There is also no overwhelming cat litter scent and prices are reasonable.  Other than a bit of tracking, we have nothing negative to say about this product.

Pros: Very good clumping, long-lasting odor control, no overwhelming scent

Cons:  Minor tracking

Arm & Hammer Platinum Double Duty

Our Rating:

4.5 star

This litter is the updated version of Arm & Hammer’s popular original Double Duty product.  It enhances odor control while scaling back some on the powerful perfume scent.  It also retains the great clumping that we love.  And all of this can be had for a very reasonable price.

Pros:  Great clumping, Improved odor control, Affordable

Cons:  Perfume scent may still be off-putting to some

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Naturals

arm & hammer clump & seal naturals 1Our Rating4 star

This product does great in all aspects and has an impressive price point to match.  Any issues that we have with it are minor easily overlooked. It is available in 8-pound bags, is comprised of wood, minerals, plants, and baking soda, and is available in the mid-price range

Pros:  Great clumping, locks in odors, easy cleanup

Cons:  Somewhat poor tracking, time-sensitive performance

Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Fresh Scent

Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Fresh Scent Clumping Cat Litter 1 full

Our Rating4 star

The clumping is the bright point in this product, and the clumps are also easy to dispose of.  We aren’t a huge fan of the litter smell, but it does lock in cat odors.  In addition, the price is more than reasonable for just about any budget.  It is available in 14, 20, and 28-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and baking soda crystal, and is available in the budget-price range.

Pros:  Affordable, stellar clumping, decent odor control

Cons:  Intense artificial fragrance

Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat Unscented

Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat Unscented Cat Litter 1 full

Our Rating3.5 star

This litter manages to do everything relatively well and without any major flaws.  However, for being a multi-cat solution we do wish the odor-fighting was a bit more aggressive.  But for the price, we can’t complain too much.  It is available in 20, 26.3, and 28-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and baking soda, and is available in the budget-price range.

Pros:  Reasonably priced, little dust, no odor from litter itself

Cons:  Relatively soft clumps

Arm & Hammer Essentials Double Duty Natural

arm & hammer essentials double duty cat litter reviewOur Rating3 star

This litter doesn’t have any major struggles but it doesn’t really wow us in any way, either.  Also, for this description, we wish the price was more along the lines of being “average”.  For the price, there are better performing options out there.  That being said, we understand how difficult it can be to find a natural solution that has the performance you need so in the regard it isn’t a horrible choice.. It is available in 9 pound bags, is comprised of corn fiber and baking soda, and is available in the premium-price range.

Pros:  Quickly clumps, more natural smell, lightweight

Cons:  clumps don’t stay hard for very long, unique materials cause tracking

Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping

Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Cat LitterOur Rating3 star

While the clumping is quite good with this product and they are easily disposed of, the litter smell is simply too intense.  The asking price is reasonable but there are other choices with similar cost and clumping performance the don’t put out the pungent smells.  It is available in 14, 26.3, and 37-pound boxes and 9-pound bags, is comprised of clay, crystals, and baking soda, and is available in the budget-price range.

    Pros:  Good clumping, little dust

Cons:  Pungent scent

Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Clumping arm & hammer essentials natural clumping cat litter review

Our Rating3 star

An average performer, but at a very good price. It does struggle with clumping and the litter smell can be a bit of a turn-off to cats and owners alike. However, it does do an acceptable job of locking in odors while staying relatively tidy.  For the asking price, you can’t really complain. It is available in 10.5-pound bags, is comprised of corn fiber, and is available in the budget-price range.

Pros:  Affordable, acceptable at masking odors, little dust

Cons:  Poor clumping, a lot of tracking

Arm & Hammer Ultra LastArm & Hammer Ultra Last Cat Litter 1 full

Our Rating3 star

This product has pretty good clumping and while it has a bit of caking, cleanup is, for the most part, a breeze.  However, the litter smell is simply way too much.  If you can handle the scent or decide to wear a gas mask around the litter (might need one for your cat as well) then it isn’t a terrible deal.   It is available in 20, 26.3, 31, 37, 40, and 50-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and baking soda, and is in the mid to premium-price range.

Pros:  Good clumping, little to no caking on box

Cons:  Very off-putting litter smell, somewhat pricey for a clay litter

Arm & Hammer Essentials Multi-Cat Natural arm & hammer essentials multi cat natural cat litter review

Our Rating2.5 star

Other than good clumping, this product doesn’t do much else well.  For the high asking price, we simply expect more out of it.  Part of the high costs is because of the all-natural approach, but we just don’t see it being worth it here.  If you shop around and can find it for cheaper offline then it might be a bit more attractive of a purchase, but that is the only time. It is available in 18-pound bags, is comprised of corn fiber, plant extracts, and baking soda, and is available in the premium-price range.

Pros:  Clumps are hard initially, little dust

Cons:  Expensive, recommended that you remove clumps daily, odd smell despite being natural

Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat Extra StrengthArm & Hammer multi-cat extra strength 1

  Our Rating2.5 star

This product is the textbook definition of average.  It does nothing particularly well but also doesn’t fail miserably at anything either.  If it didn’t struggle with clumping we might bump it up to a soft buy given the good price.  But even for the near budget price, we would still like to see better and there is better to choose from.  It is available in 20, 26.3, and 40-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and baking soda, and is available in the budget to mid-priced range.

  Pros:  Decent at masking odors

Cons:  Clumps tend to fall apart, tracking can be an issue

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Lightweight Fresh Scent

arm & hammer clump & seal lightweight fresh scent cat litter reviewOur Rating2 star

This product struggles on all fronts, other than being lightweight so that it is easy to handle and dispose of.  For the given performance, the asking price is just way too high.  It is available in 9 and 15-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and baking soda, and is available in the mid-priced range.

Pros:  Scent isn’t too overpowering, Good odor control early on

Cons:  Clumps tend to fall apart, Easy to track out of box

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Lightweight Multi-Cat

arm & hammer clump & seal lightweight multi-cat cat litter reviewOur Rating2 star

This litter struggles in several places: the clumps are quite weak, the litter smell can be overpowering, it is very dusty, and the asking price is just too high.  There are many other options in this price range that will suit you much better. It is available in 9 and 15-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and baking soda, and is available in the mid-priced range.

      Pros:  Lightweight

Cons:  Poor Clumping, Struggles with Odor Control, Overwhelming Scent, Messy

Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Fragrance-Free

Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Fragrance Free Cat Litter 1 full

Our Rating2 star

The great price is the only saving grace of this product.  The clumps fall apart quickly and easily and the litter smell is really bad.  Any bright spots this has are masked by its weak points, and despite a nice price, we think there are plenty of better choices.   It is available in 14, 20, and 26.3-pound boxes, is comprised of clay and baking soda, and is available in the budget-priced range.

Pros:  Very little dust, relatively low price

Cons:  Sand-like clumps that fall apart, extremely overwhelming litter smell, messy
